On his first solo album, making no waves. When he hit with second solo effort Transformer and started thinking how to follow-up that one, Lou contacted producer Bob Ezrin, admired by him for the way he nailed Lou's Sweet Jane (see there) with Mitch Ryder's band Detroit. The first time they met, Bob praised Berlin which he considered the best song on that first album albeit too short and a missed opportunity to clear out the rest of the storyline. Whereupon Lou left the meeting loaded with new ideas...
