Artist: Lou Reed
Author: Lou Reed
Label: Light In The Attic
Year: 1965

With John Cale, second voice. The version on a reel-to-reel Scotch 111 tape in an untouched sealed envelope found in Lou's office after his death in '13, also holding his demo's of later Velvet Underground & Nico chestnuts Heroin, Pale Blue Eyes and Wrap Your Troubles In Dreams (see there). All titles spelled out by Lou adding "Words and music Lou Reed" to secure his poor man's copyright, by-passing red-tape procedure through the US Copyright Office with the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. Words & Music May 1965 is also the title under which this historic tape has been released in '22.

Covers:

1967:

Velvet Underground [as I'm Waiting For My Man on The Velvet Underground & Nico album; earlier band versions circulate, one even recorded (in the Chiswick studio) shortly after Lou had received his precious copyright package]

2024:

Keith Richards [on a Light In The Attic Lou Reed tribute]
