Adapted from 1850s ballad Darling Nelly Gray, played as a fiddle tune by his father John and his grandfather Tom. All three Wills generations were mean fiddlers. Was a Texas Playboy instrumental before Bob's younger brother Johnny Lee wrote the lyrics in 1950, when it became a hit on MGM.
