Artist: Hank Williams
Author: Hank Williams

Slightly inspired by Cole Porter's 1942 song with the same title. Lyrics (with some cooking involved) inspired by the nature of his sponsor: Mother's Best cooking meal, backing his daily 15 minutes on WSM in Nashville, the radio station hosting the Grand Ole' Opry. That's where this song was first heard. Actually written for Little Jimmy Dickens but Hank decided to keep it.
Covers:
Frankie Laine & Jo Stafford [hit US]
Tommy Zang [hit UK]
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band [with Linda Ronstadt]
Buckwheat Zydeco & Dwight Yoakam [on tribute cd]
More Hank Williams stuff by Ray Charles: Your Cheatin' Heart, You Win Again and Half As Much.
