When he heard of Hank Williams' rip-off, Papa Cairo turned his back to the music business never to record or perform again. He wouldn't have had a point in court though, since the melody is even older than Happy Fats's. It's in Abbeville by The Jelly Boys Of Lafayette (Decca - '37), in Pine Island by Miller's Merrymakers (Bluebird - '36), in Pin Solitaire by Cleoma Breaux Falcon (Decca - '36), in La Valse Du Bayou Plaquemine by The Breaux Brothers (Vocalion - '34) and last but not least in Le Garçon Négligent by The Guidry Brothers. Same melody was also in Allons Kooche Kooche by The Louisiana Ramblers (Decca - '37), where Papa Cairo was part of.
