Scotty wrote this as a reaction on his wife Lulu's sweet remark while visiting him in hospital in Chicago in '44. The same year, Lulu Belle & Scotty introduced the song in film Sing, Neighbor, Sing. They worked for the same barn dance in Chicago where Gene Autry was the star so he was offered the first recording. An author's version followed on the tiny Vogue label.
