Artist: Leon Russell
Author: Mick Jagger/Keith Richards
Label: Shelter
Year: 1969

Left-over from the sessions for his first album feat. Bill Wyman, Ringo Starr and guest vocalist Mick Jagger. Bonus track on the cd version ('89).

Covers:

1972:

Rolling Stones [as Shine A Light on Exile On Main Street]

2004:

Neal Casal [idem, hidden track on cd Solo acoustic live, France 03]

2004:

Allison Crowe [idem]

Mick wrote it in conjunction with Brian Jones' self-destructive behavior but shelved the first result after Brian's death and changed the title in Shine A Light. Leon, who played keyboards on the sessions for Let It Bleed, must have heard that oldest version. If ever the Stones would consider to release their equivalent of the Beatles' Anthology, Get A Line On You might as well be on it.
