Artist: Shirelles
Author: Gerry Goffin/Carole King
Label: Scepter
Year: 1960

With author Carole King on piano, who wrote it for Johnny Mathis. As Columbia A&R-man Mitch Miller declined it, the song went to the smaller Scepter label. At first The Shirelles declined it too. They thought it sounded too white for a girl group. Still it became their first n°1 US, triggering the re-release of their earlier single Dedicated To The One I Love (see there). In fact The Shirelles became the first girl group with a n°1 US, Will You Love Me Tomorrow the first n°1 US for writing duo Goffin/King.
