Author: Lowman Pauling/Ralph Bass
Label: King

Owes a lot to Chester Mayfield's I Don't Want You To Go by The Casanovas ('55 - Apollo), the former label of The 5 Royales. Both Casanovas and 5 Royales were bands from North Carolina and held tenor William Samuels, coauthor Lowman Pauling's brother-in-law.
Covers:
Shirelles [hit US in '61]
Mamas And Papas [n°2 US]
Frank Alamo [as J'ai pleuré pour toi]
Linda Ronstadt [on cd Dedicated To The One I Love]
The Shirelles' hit version is from 1961, when it followed up Will You Love Me Tomorrow. In reaction the Five Royales' original was reissued.
