Not to be confused with Lou Reed's song from Transformer ('72). Lou was inspired by Nelson Algren's novel A Walk On The Wild Side, due to be adapted for an off Broadway play but failed to materialize. Lou replaced the characters in the book with people he knew from Warhol's Factory. The whole story's on his live lp Take No Prisoners.
