Artist: Byrds
Author: Gene Clark/David Crosby/Jim McGuinn

Introduced psychedelic rock to the world, before The Beatles followed suit on Revolver. Earliest version was cut late '65 at RCA with Jim Dickson producing, one month before the familiar take was nailed at Columbia with Allen Stanton producing. That first intro particularly was very much inspired by John Coltrane's India (Impulse - 1963), in the way McGuinn imitated Trane's saxophone sound on his 12 string. The original RCA version came out on LP Never Before in '88.
Covers:
Golden Earring [title track LP]
Calcium [intro to Elle regarde et elle rit]
Super Sister [in Metamorphosis]
Crowded House [with Roger McGuinn live]
