Real name: Aleck Ford, after his mother but as Rice Miller he adopted the name of his stepfather. Also known as Willie Williams, Alex Willie Williamson, Little Boy Blue, Buzzard Beak and The Signifyin' Goat. Played as Sonny Boy Williamson from '41 till '45 on radio station KFFA in Helena, Arkansas and recorded for Trumpet in Jackson, MS between '51 and '54. Not to be confused with John Lee Williamson, an older blues harmonica player who successfully recorded as Sonny Boy Williamson on RCA Bluebird in Chicago between '37 and '47. When he died in 1948, the second Sonny Boy from down in the Delta just adopted his new stage-name, recording for Checker in Chicago between '55 and '65 and for European companies like Storyville and L+R between '63 and '65.
