Artist: Sonny Boy Williamson

Sonny Boy II, operating from Arkansas and Mississippi. Hijacked the name of his Chicago counterpart. This second Sonny Boy was the most successful one, working for radio in Helena, AR (the famous King Biscuit Flower Hour, still running), later for Chess in Chicago. His Arhoolie re-issue of his earliest (Trumpet) sides (and the backside of his gravemarker in Tutwiler, MS) hold one long list of standard blues material: Eyesight To The Blind, Nine Below Zero, Mr. Downchild, I Cross My Heart, Pontiac Blues and Mighty Long Time (where he borrowed the melody line of Blues Stay Away From Me for; see there).
