Written by Peppermint Harris (real name: Harrison Nelson). There is no version by the author as he recorded for Duke, read: for Don Corleone Robey. This 'real business man' once liquidated his own star performer Johnny Ace who'd just announced his departure to another label. A similar story surrounds As The Years Go Passing By: as usual Robey demanded publishing rights for studio time, a deal Peppermint Harris refused to comply with. One wink and Robey's bodyguards (always at hand) knew what to do. Harris' beaten up body still lay moaning in a studio corner while replacer Fenton Robinson was forced to take his place behind the mike-stand.
Albert King [Albert's riff progression speeded up by Duane Allman at the beginning of Layla (Derek & The Dominoes)]
Fenton Robinson [relaxed new version on Alligator, under no pressure whatsoever]
Mighty Joe Young [also in film Ali]
