Artist: Fenton Robinson
Author: Harrison Nelson
Label: Duke
Year: 1958
Written by Peppermint Harris (real name: Harrison Nelson). There is no version by the author as he recorded for Duke, read: for Don Corleone Robey. This 'real business man' as usual demanded publishing rights for studio time, a deal Peppermint Harris refused to comply with. One wink and Robey's bodyguards (always at hand) knew what to do. Bloodstains of Harris hadn't even dried when replacer Fenton Robinson was forced to take his place behind the mike-stand.
Covers:
Albert King [Albert's riff progression speeded up by Duane Allman at the beginning of Layla (Derek & The Dominoes)]
Santana [At the Fillmore 68]
Fenton Robinson [relaxed new version on Alligator, under no pressure whatsoever]
Mighty Joe Young [also in film Ali]
