Romanian Angel Appeal was a charitable initiative in support of neglected orphans, shouldered by all four Beatles spouses, Olivia Harrison in particular (her husband was a Traveling Wilbury). Hank Snow sang about one blind boy. His was a party piece with the Starkeys in Liverpool. Ringo used to sing it solo in front of his family.
