Using the tune of Wildwood Flower (see there). On album Dear Mr. President, produced by Alan Lomax. The USS Reuben James was a US destroyer torpedoed by a German U-boat on October 31, 1941. That's prior to Pearl Harbor, making the USS Reuben James the first US vessel destroyed during WW II. Woody served with the merchand marine. The Reuben James is also the ship targeted in film Red October.
