Artist: Jeroen Le Compte
Author: Jeroen Le Compte
Year: 1985

Live in BRT tv-show Met Mike In Zee (see YouTube). Written while Jeroen and the mother of their meanwhile famous daughter Delphine (Lecompte in one word) separated. So there's no doubt this melody serves deep feelings, both under Le Compte's '85 composition and Arno's ode to his mother ten years later. Seems the melody for Les Yeux de ma mère was co-credited to Piet Jorens, friend of both Arno and Jeroen. Of course, melodical similarities are unavoidable and usually get attention soon as the younger composition becomes skyrocking famous. In this case one can at least start both melody lines simultaneously and not hearing any difference until way past the intro's. Carl Op de Beeck, an older musical companion of Le Compte, warned him to keep using this tune for obvious similarities with Man Of Mystery by The Shadows!

The subject of a plagiarism case in Belgium.
