Both Hollies and Hermits were clients of Mancunian tailor clerk & songwriter Graham Gouldman (before he joined 10cc). Herman's Hermits had hits with his No Milk Today, Listen People and indeed cut an early version of Bus Stop. Graham Gouldman was discovered by Hermits manager Harvey Lisberg.
