Artist: New World Singers
Author: Bob Dylan
Label: Smithsonian Folkways
Year: 1962
The New World Singers were Gil Turner, Bob Cohen, Dolores Dixon and Happy Traum. Gil was connected both with Broadside Magazine and Gerde's Folk City, Dylan's Greenwich Village hangout. Gil Turner truly became Dylan's go-between when Bob handed him the lyrics to Blowin' In The Wind at a New World Singers gig. Turner was so impressed he and his band performed the song that very evening. There's a version by the Singers, assumed to be the first recording as Blowin' In The Wind, on The Best Of Broadside 1962-1988, a 5 cd document out on Smithsonian Folkways.
