In 1964, the year Steve Winwood reached the age of 16, his band The Spencer Davis Group turned full pro. They signed with Chris Blackwell, back from Jamaica, reggae connaisseur, Bob Marley discoverer and Island label boss. Their biggest hits in England (and Europe for that matter) were Keep On Running and Somebody Help Me (see there), both written by Jamaican Jackie Edwards. Chris Blackwell was more than go-between. Jackie also wrote Come On Home, a hit for Wayne Fontana and Come Back Girl, a hit for Belgians Brian & the Hi-Five.
