Artist: Davy Graham
Author: Davy Graham
Label: Topic
Year: 1962
On an EP along with Alexis Korner (3/4 AD). Ode to his girlfriend. Came about when Davy missed a note while learning Ramblin' Jack Elliott's Cocaine Bill. Also as Angi and Angie (not to be confused with the Stones' song). On every self respecting acoustic folk guitarist's repertoire, including Paul Simon who points Davy as one of his influences since he came to London in the early sixties.
Covers:
Bert Jansch [as Angi; adapting it as his own]
Simon & Garfunkel [idem on their Sounds Of Silence-album]
Al Stewart [foundation of his Small Fruit Song]
Harry Sacksioni [on lp Vensters]
Chumbawamba [sample Bert Jansch' guitar tune in Jacob's Ladder (see also: The Pretty Ploughboy)]
