In musical Damn Yankees! She also sang it in the film version (What Lola Wants). Choreographer Bob Fosse preferred Gwen over Marilyn Monroe. She also got the main part in the original Sweet Charity. But the expression concerns the legendary victorian dancer and courtisane Lola Montez (1821-1861).

The expression concerns Lola Montez, an Irish dancer and courtisane (1821-1861) who became the mistress of excentric king Ludwig I of Bavaria, who gave her a title, which costed him his throne. This most scandalous woman of the Victorian age was also close with Franz Liszt and Alexandre Dumas.
