Beach Boys [as Never Learn Not To Love on lp 20/20 and B-side of Bluebirds Over The Mountain; only crediting Dennis Wilson, angering the author]

The murder of Sharon Tate & co by Charles Manson and his Family harmed the whole world, the hippie movement in particular. In tempore non suspecto he and his virgins were merry music makers round the campfire. Their primitive but not entirely innocent songs appeared bootlegged during the trial. Guns 'N Roses used these Manson tapes for a hidden track on their cover-cd The Spaghetti Incident, Marilyn Manson of course showed interest as well, but the first band who used them were these otherwise harmless Beach Boys. Manson & Family lived a while in Dennis Wilson's house. Go-between were two of Manson's virgins (who gave Dennis the clap on the side). Steven Gaines's book Heroes And Villains (1987) has the whole picture: scavenging supermarket food containers at night while cruisin' in Dennis's Rolls or Ferrari. Dennis also fixed studiotime for Manson. Some six to eight tracks were cut, one to be selected for the Beach Boys' 20/20-lp and as B-side for Bluebirds Over The Mountain. Charles Manson didn't like the result: Dennis had changed the title, skipped a few lyric lines and took all the credits.
