Ringplay from the Georgia Sea Islands; Alan Lomax recording for the Atlantic lp American Folk Songs For Children, later for the cd box set Sounds Of The South. Bessie was born in 1902 and learned most of her ringplay tunes from her own father who lived to be 105. Fully aware of her valuable song legacy she devoted her life transmitting them to school children everywhere.
