Artist: George Watson
Author: S.A. Emery
Label: Edison
Year: 1911
Already a hit for the author in 1869, safe for the yodels.
Covers:
Charles Anderson [black singer notorious for his female impersonations and yodeling; Ralph Peer recording so he must have been extra charmed by Jimmie Rodgers' version four years later, on the last day of the auditions in Bristol, TN]
Jimmie Rodgers [debut recording during the Bristol Sessions and his first yodel to boot]
Jimmie Rodgers popularised yodeling for sure, introduce the gimmick he did not. George Watson was a yodeler too, one among many Americans making a living with it in the 1910s; he cut an English and a German version.
