A fur trappers song doubling as sea shanty and Interim State Song of Virginia. An eponymous song by Henri Burr & Albert Campbell from 1917 (for Victor) is a different one (written by Halsey K. Mohr). Shenandoah was a wise indian chief (Oneida) who reached the age of 110 (1706-1816).
