Arthur Collins & Joe Natus; song with black lingo (and racist undertones) used both in vaudeville and the minstrel show circuit. Sung by whites and blacks alike, both with blackened faces. Reissued on cd Crazy As A Loon - Coon Songs And Darky Specialities 1897-1910 (Phonozoic). Sheet music first published by Howley, Haviland & Dresser.
Covers:
Big Boy George Owens [as The Coon Crap Game]
Barbecue Bob [as The Crap Game; with Charlie Hicks]
Written around 1901 by John Queen (white) from New Orleans. Crap game was prohibited and so everybody split soon as the heat fell in, in this case leaving a considerable amount of money on the card table, grabbed by the last one to leave; I got mine!
