On lp Fox Hollow 1972 Vol VII and in '78 for Fantasy on lp My Own House. First there was a poem by Willa Cather, published in McClure's Magazine in 1912 and mentioned in Cather's novel The Song Of The Lark in 1915. That's what inspired Siebel.



Emmylou Harris [on Evangeline with Waylon Jennings; sang it also in 1970 with David Bromberg on guitar for New York radiostation WBAI]

In 1934 Alan Lomax recorded a vocal version of this poem as by C.E. Scoggins, using his own melody.
