Artist: Herman Darewski
Author: Herman Darewski/Robert Patrick Weston
Label: CHARM
Year: 1914

Bandleader in The Winter Gardens in Blackpool who only started recording in 1929 (for Parlophone). Seems Harry Fay cut a version in 1914 under alias Bert Ashton, as mentioned on the CHARM site (Centre for the History and Analysis of Recorded Music).

Covers:

1915:

Henriette en Louis Davids [in Rido's revue Loop Naar De Duivel as Zandvoort; own lyrics]

1915:

Albert Bol [as Zandvoort Bij De Zee for Columbia]

1962:

Henk Elsink [idem]

1967:

Heikrekels [as Zandvoort Aan Zee]

1979:

André van Duin [idem]

Davids left his best known piece for others to record. Two other Darewski songs he did record himself: In Het Zand ('18 - Odeon) was called On The Silvery Sand originally (1910) and Zandvoort Nummer Twee ('25 - Beka) was Darewski's I want To Go To Margate.
