Artist: Sleepy John Estes
Author: John Estes
Label: Decca
Year: 1938
Bluesman from Ripley near Brownsville, TN, where he lived all of his life. He only went to Chicago to record once in a while. Praised for his sharp lyrics, observations you wouldn't expect from someone called Sleepy. His drowsy look was caused by an eye injury while playing baseball as a teenager.
Covers:
Taj Mahal [as Everybody's Got To Change]
Eric Clapton [was fascinated by Estes, not in the least cause of his birthplace Ripley, TN; Eric is from Ripley, Surrey]
