There's a link between self declared polonaise king Tielens and the original performer: Café De Kroon, Veerstraat 12 in Rumst (Rupel region near Antwerp). Fons Van Thielen played first trumpet with the local Rupelgalm brass band, regularly frequenting this pub, managed by Steve Tielens' mother and stepfather. Steve was the DJ at De Kroon and a good one apparantly. Started spinning records there at the age of 13. He's from 1971 so he was 13 in '84, the year the original came out, written and performed by a regular patron.
