YELLOW ROSES

Latest update on 30/05/2006

Artist: Hank Snow
Author: Ken Devine/Sam Nichols
Label: RCA
Year: 1955

Canada's Yodeling Ranger, mirroring Jimmie Rodgers. Soon as his voice wore out and he stopped yodeling, they just called him The Singing Ranger. He was such a big Jimmie Rodgers fan he named his own son Jimmie Rodgers Snow.

Covers:

1976:

Ry Cooder [vocal & dominant Hawaiian steel: Gabby Pahinui]

1993:

Brendan Croker & The Serious Offenders [more in Cooder/Pahinui's vein than in Snow's]

Dolly Parton's Yellow Roses, n°1 C&W in '89, came from her own garden.
