Not to be confused with Schubert's Ave Maria (see there). This melody was written by Bach in 1722 as Prélude N°1 aus das wohltemperierte Klavier and arranged by Charles Gounod in 1852 as Méditation sur le 1er prélude de piano de J.S. Bach, also known as Ave Maria.
