That's when he and Walter Becker were part of Jay & The Americans, desperately in search of a recording contract all their own. Out on unofficial release Catalyst, along with early versions of Brooklyn (slower than on Can't Buy A Thrill), Parker's Band and Charlie Freak (both later on Pretzel Logic), Any World That I'm Welcome To (from Katy Lied) and even a prehistoric Caves Of Altamira (entombed on The Royal Scam).
