Her name was Gonny Happe, the real M'n Eerste, the girl from the zangvereniging. Witte learned to know her on the Zaandam fair. But their romance didn't last, the water was too deep: her father was a blacksmith, his a headmaster. Probably this same girl inspired Dirk Witte for his Mensch, Durf Te Leven!
