When it comes to sampling, Italians are the biggest maffiosi: Blackbox used a stand-in model to mime the sampled Loleatta Holloway vocals in Top Of The Pops. Miss Hollaway rightfully asked for compensation. Ramshorn Records, the Dutch representative of Loleatta's, copied Ride On Time and released it as the B-side of a Love Sensation re-issue. Ramshorn got sued by Blackbox for plagiarism and won. In his amusing book Will Pop Eat Itself? (Faber & Faber), author Jeremy J. Beadle concludes that pop not only eats itself but starts ruminating on top.
