With Lonnie Johnson on guitar. Joe Oliver, Armstrong's first bandleader in Chicago, made his local reputation as a cornet virtuoso in 1919, ragging a tune called I'm Not Rough. No one will ever know how good Oliver really was just going through the recordings he made. By 1923 he was too sick to exell. That fysical condition made him invite Armstrong to join his band and eventually succeed him, up in Chicago.
