Artist: TV Slim & His Heartbreakers
Author: Oscar Wills/Stan Lewis
Label: Clif/Checker
Year: 1957
Reissued on cd Shreveport Stomp - RAM Records Vol. I. TV Slim is coauthor Oscar Wills. That was the year Mira Smith of RAM Records went into partnership with Cliff Hagen of Clif Records. This local bluesman was their first success story, finalized by a third Shreveport personality: Stan Lewis, owner of the Jewel & Paula labels, plugging it from his smooth-running record store doubling for postorder office. His connections with other distributors like Leonard Chess in Chicago, helped distribute Flatfoot Sam nationally on Checker. Leonard Chess ordered a new version of the song to be cut in New Orleans, with Paul Gayten's band and released under Oscar Wills' real name on Argo. Both versions came out almost simultaniously.
