Heartthrobbing lifestory of the King by his friend and admirer, the deepest bass voice ever recorded (according to the Guinness Book Of Records). Maybe the best post mortem tribute ever. "Elvis has left the building, thank you and good night" was the standard intercom announcement after every Elvis show since his weekly Louisiana Hayride stints (pre RCA). Elvis never gave an encore and this was the standard procedure to make perfectly clear the show was over, period. The announcement continued though, pointing patrons to where merchandise was to be purchased. The oldest surviving Elvis Has Left The Building end announcement came out on Elvis' Louisiana Hayride cd Roots Revolution (Tomato). Yes, this stuff was not controlled by Priscilla.

Covers:

1989:

Frank Zappa [as Elvis Has Just Left The Building; completely different song making fun of rock necrology in general and Elvis sanctification in particular]

The same sentence is to be heard at the end of the Dire Straits clip for Calling Elvis and of course at the end of the Elvis The Concert World Tour and double cd (1998), organised and released by Graceland & Elvis Presley Enterprises. J.D. Sumner's Stamps Quartet is part of that ticket, along with The Sweet Inspirations, Millie Kirkham (the high soprano in the "laughing version" of Are You Lonesome Tonight - see there), The TCB Band feat. James Burdon and a 16-piece orchestra conducted by Joe Guercio. The only one missing was the only one that can't be replaced.
