COMIN' IN ON A WING AND A PRAYER

Latest update on 03/02/2011

Artist: Song Spinners
Author: Jimmy McHugh/Harold Adamson
Label: Decca
Year: 1943

Air Force hit unaffected by the musicians' strike of that year; The Song Spinners were a vocal group and sang it a cappella. That's exactly what an airforce pilot friend of the author witnessed, hit by the Germans, making a save return with one wing half blown away. McHugh also wrote On The Sunny Side Of Your Street, I'm In The Mood For Love and is sometimes credited for I Can't Give You Anything But Love (see there).
