• Cover of PO' LAZARUS in 1959 - Alan Lomax recording in the MS State Pen (Camp B in Lambert), reissued on Southern Journey Vol 5: Bad Man Ballads; Alan praised it for being the finest African-American ballad he and his father ever recorded; used as intro in Coen Brithers film O Brother Where Art Thou; James Carter, still alive then, was rewarded with a royalty cheque of $20.000 and an invitation for the Grammy ceremony
