Lincke was the Berliner operetta king (1866-1946). Regarded as 'Le Kaiser' in the Paris Folies Bergères. Once the most popular German after Bismarck. Also wrote Berliner Luft (for his operetta Frau Luna) and Glühwürmchen Idyll (for his operetta Lysistrata) (See there). He wasn't a true Berliner, was born in Wittenberg, but lived to see 'his' Berlin in ruins.
