On her lp Hoe Wordt Een Mens Een Ster? Written by De Groot's writing partner Lennaert Nijgh in 1970. It's about the Dutch poet Halbo C. Kool (1907-1968). Nijgh (and De Groot) had met him in '65 when they were invited on one of Kool's jazz & poetry evenings. Halbo Christiaan Kool really deserved the moniker prodigy (Wonderkind): he was called 'the benjamin of the Dutch literary family' when his first poems came out in 1930 (De Tooverformule). But that's about the only acclaim he got. When he died, an obituary slug-lined: 'Once promising poet dies'.
Covers:
Boudewijn de Groot [as Een Wonderkind Van 50; same lyrics, own music]
