Eddie Taylor first formed a band with Jimmy Reed. Their audition at Chess - or Aristocrat as it was known then - was rejected because Eddie was too old. Leonard Chess liked his song though and gave it to Johnny Jones. Taylor & Reed moved over to that other Chicago blues label Vee-Jay, where sideman Jimmy Reed was prefered over leader Eddie Taylor. Seven years later Eddie got his own chance with a version of his own song, outdoing the original.
