Her first success, the beginning of a fruitful nine year relationship with songwriter Burt Bacharach (see also Mexican Divorce). The song came about when Dionne complained about her demo of Make It Easy On Yourself going to Jerry Butler. To settle the dispute, Bacharach & David wrote Don't Make Me Over and cut it on her, right on the spot. Her real name was Warrick but it got spelled Warwick on the label and instead of correcting they decided to keep it that way. Backing vocals by the Gospelaires, Dionne's former band, where her aunt Cissy Houston (Whitney's mom) stood in for her.
