Houseband of the Lima zoo, Peru. Song from the zarzuela El Condor Pasa, written in 1913 by Peruvian composer Daniel Alomia Robles and based upon a traditional Andes folk tune. The original words in Quechua, the language of the ancient Inca. The play was situated in a mine in Cerro de Pasco (central Peru), indian miners against their Saxon bosses (Sajones). The condor high above stands for freedom.
