Painter, singer guitarist and guitar builder from Leeds counting Brendan Croker, Mark Knopfler and Tony Joe White among his customers. As The Duolian String Pickers, Phillips, Croker & Knopfler used to jam in the back of Steve's shop in days before Mark quit his job at the local newspaper, moved to London and formed Dire Straits. The rest is history, including his plan to produce a solo album on his former companion and teacher, resulting in a reunion, including Croker and a millionselling cd to boot. Will You Miss Me from this Notting Hillbillies album came off Steve's Steel Rail Blues lp, first released on his own label.
