I'LL ROLL IN MY SWEET BABY'S ARMS

Latest update on 02/08/2010

Artist: Buster Carter & Preston Young
Author: traditional
Label: Columbia
Year: 1931

With fiddler Posey Rorer. Preston Young was a Depression era hillbilly in the style of Charlie Poole, who'd died shortly before this New York recording: muted instruments during the vocal breaks, instrumental ballyhoo soon as they kept their mouth shut. This bluegrass classic was often credited to Charlie Monroe or Flatt & Scruggs. Reissued on Document cd Walter Smith & Friends Vol 3 and on Arhoolie cd String Bands Vol 2.
