With fiddler Posey Rorer from the North Carolina Ramblers. Preston Young was a Depression-era hillbilly in the style of Charlie Poole, who'd died shortly before this New York recording: muted instruments during the vocal breaks, instrumental ballyhoo soon as they kept their mouth shut. This bluegrass classic was often credited to Charlie Monroe or Flatt & Scruggs. Re-issued on Document cd Walter Smith & Friends Vol 3 and on Arhoolie cd String Bands Vol 2.
Covers:
Monroe Brothers [as Roll In My Sweet Baby's Arms]
Leon Russell [alias Hank Wilson]
Charlie Daniels [all as Roll In My Sweet Baby's Arms]
