Agit-prop group with Lee Hays, Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie, pre Weavers. Heavily blacklisted by Senator McCarthy's un-American activities witch hunt. Written in 1940 at the seat of the Communist Party in Oklahoma City. Guthrie & Seeger sang there for striking petrol laborers and this song was meant to support their wives on the side.
