TREAT HER RIGHT

Latest update on 04/09/2018

Artist: Roy Head & The Traits
Author: Roy Head/Gene Kurtz
Label: Back Beat
Year: 1965

Cleaned up version of their bawdy song Talking 'Bout A Cow. Back Beat was a sub-label of Duke/Peacock and Treat Her Right became Don Robey's first national hit (n°1 R&B, n°2 US just behind Yesterday). He did everything he could to keep this white Houston band out of the picture to maintain the illusion they were black.
